Born and raised in Southern California, Scott Woodburn’s family roots go back to the early 1900s. His Great Grandmother lived on Catalina Island in 1913, and his Grandfather was the Chief of Police for San Clemente in the 1930s. Scott raised his own family in Southern California and is committed to helping people reach their goals of creating generational wealth through real estate while living the California Dream.
As a licensed Real Estate Professional for nearly 30 years, Scott is well versed in the intricate details of the real estate business in California. In 1993 Scott started his career as a Commercial Real Estate Agent with the company Grubb and Ellis. As a Commercial Realtor, Scott specialized in the needs of medical distribution companies in Orange County. At that time, there was a downturn in the California commercial real estate market, which meant Scott was not only helping his clients buy, sell, and lease commercial property, but he was also actively renegotiating leases and facilitating exit strategies for struggling companies.
Shortly after that, Grubb & Ellis sold their residential division to Prudential, and Scott joined Prudential Residential Real Estate. A year later, the same downturn that had impacted the commercial market progressed into the residential market. With the skills that Scott acquired renegotiating contracts in the commercial real estate shakeout, he quickly became the go-to Realtor when other real estate agents had clients with complex deal structures.
Scott became a top negotiator/facilitator between banks or mortgage companies on the one hand and homeowners with little or no equity in their homes on the other hand. Those homeowners needed to sell their homes for less than was owed, which at that time was known as “paid as agreed” but is now known as a “Short Sale.” This made Scott truly one of the very first short sale negotiators in the industry and laid the groundwork for Scott’s hard-earned expertise with non-standard transactions.
He has worked extensively with banks that include Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Chase, Washington Mutual, NationStar, SPS, and Mr. Cooper. Over the course of his career, Scott has negotiated hundreds of short sale transactions and managed over 100 “real estate owned properties.”
Scott’s professional strengths are understanding and dissecting complex real estate transactions. He listens deeply to clients to understand everyone’s true wants, needs, and objectives. He takes this approach with all clients — buyers, sellers, or investors — so he can educate clients about current market conditions, and better serve you.
Your needs will always be first! Scott’s experience and philosophy haven proven that this level of service and commitment to you is key to success for every client.
Scott’s calm and compassionate demeanor make him an ideal partner to work with when a project involves highly emotionally charged transactions. He and his team specialize in divorces and probates.
When Scott is not working with clients you can find him sailing off the California coast with his family and friends, enjoying the company of his beloved black lab, renovating historical homes, mentoring other realtors, or helping friends and colleagues grow their businesses.
